Ingredients
- 1 large bag of spinach (2 bags for 4-5 people)
- 1/2 or 1/4 of a cup of garlic cloves, whole peeled
- 1/4 of a cup of ground sesame
- salt , to taste (black salt if possible)
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of masala curry powder (if you're making it for kids just leave out the curry and black pepper)
- 1/2 teaspoon of crushed black peppercorns (optional)
Method
- In a large pot put in the whole peeled garlic cloves, then add a little water - just enough to cover the garlic
- Bring to the boil on a high heat for around 10 minutes, after about 5 mins add turmeric and sesame powder (the garlic should absorb all the water and be soft like boiled potatoes)
- Try not to - but if you have to add more water, just make a hole in the mixture and pour onto the metal bottom of the pan so that the water doesn't cool down the mixture and only use very limited amount of water.
- Add a little salt and other spices if necessary and stir well, keep stirring constantly
- Add in the whole bag of washed, chopped spinach. If possible just break the spinach leaves in half rather than chop them.
- Stir this mixture for about 5 to 10 minutes until the spinach is well cooked and mushy, keep stirring so that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan
- Serve with your favorite veggies
