What you need
- 2 to 3 medium potatoes per person
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of ground sesame with salt (or black salt - himalayan salt --- lots of minerals)
- Note : Grind the sesame in a coffee grinder if possible - into a fine powder
Method
- Heat oven at it's highest heat so it's warmed up before you put potatoes in
- Slice potatoes into flat round chips. We have a curly serrated knife, available at most supermarkets
- Sprinkle the ground sesame powder over the potatoes
- Bake for 20 mins on medium/high heat - place in center of the oven, not too high up (to keep sesame from burning)
- The result is a tray full of crunchy potato fries.
Batter
Alternatively you can make a thick batter out of sesame and water blended in a blender with some salt, pepper and/or other spices, or herbs (kids often like them just with salt), then dip the cut (fries/wedge style chips) into the batter, place in oven tray and bake on 250 celsius or high heat until the batter goes crispy. To make the batter thicker just add more sesame. This will make a crispy coating for the potatoes.
